jtroth > Suiseki are commonly displayed on a flat board (ji-ita).  However, this stone cannot be appreciated that way, and looks much better if raised up on a display stand (shoku).  

This is our preferred display.  The simplified form of this shoku, with the large empty space below, allows us to focus on the suiseki and gives it a delicate appearance.
jtroth > For most suiseki this stand is too decorative and "busy", but for this stone it seems to work. The somewhat decorative patterns of the stone are reflected in the carving of the shoku, which draws attention to the suiseki. Compared to delicate appearance of the previous picture, this display makes the stone appear more powerful.
